‘My production revolves and construct itself inside the studio. My observations are based on my urban environnement, architecture, verticality its anomalies, as a painter. Therefore notions of space informs the production. Inside the studio, I am able to analyse the informations gathered in the urban environment, where I assimilate and execute them. It is the place for the necessary distance and refection.
Moreover, a tautological link is made between studio and production, in fact between the street, my practice and history.
Repetition is a key aspect of my works, which is a direct response with observations of my environment.
My production is the result of a condensation of information which is translated by a simple plastic language (elementary forms, raw colours) associated with a mental or real image bank. But the formalism in my method of work will never know how to completely erase all my feelings and intentions...’
—Niels Hung, 2023.
