Created in 2020 by gallery owner Fabienne Levy, the Space Invasion project was born from a desire to provide a platform for emerging artists. Open to all students from visual art schools in Switzerland, Space Invasion offers selected candidates the opportunity to understand the challenges in a gallery: from project conception to implementation, including costs and development.
Each exhibition has a given theme around which applicants submit their artistic proposals. For Fabienne Levy, culture should be accessible to everyone, and art should be a catalyst, inviting everyone to see the world with a new perspective. Space Invasion aims not only to give a voice to young artists but also to engage the public in meaningful dialogues about the issues of our time.
For the third edition of Space Invasion, FABIENNE LEVY is showcasing 27 artists across both gallery spaces in Lausanne and Geneva under the theme ‘Unprecedented Times’:
‘Unprecedented times refers to periods or situations that are exceptionally unique, with no previous examples or parallels in history. This term is often used to describe events or circumstances that are highly unusual, unpredictable, and have far-reaching impacts, making them difficult to manage or understand based on past experiences. They encapsulate periods marked by significant, unfamiliar challenges and changes, where traditional responses may be inadequate, and innovative solutions are often required.’

Fabienne Levy is a Swiss contemporary art gallery with locations in Lausanne, Geneva, and Zurich. Dedicated to contemporary artistic practices, the gallery places particular emphasis on works that engage with and critically reflect the world we live in. Conceived as a space for dialogue and intellectual exchange, it presents thoughtfully curated exhibitions that highlight individual artists, offering in-depth encounters with their work and ideas. Both its curatorial program and Fabienne Levy’s personal collection demonstrate a strong commitment to socially engaged art, supporting artists who explore the complexities and challenges of contemporary life.
