Venezuelan born artist Ricardo Alcaide works around the memory of modernism and its deviation in the actual context in Latin-America. With his own personal analytical approach of socio-political and cultural aspects, Alcaide makes connections through his immediate surroundings and found objects, a significant part in his works, as a reflection of ever-growing waste caused by progress, destroying the past and erasing heritage to rebuild, maintaining what he considers ‘a constant cycle of instability’. Influencing his minimal abstract work, this results in a complex formal conflict between his constant search for harmony and traces of chaos.
