Jeong received his BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design and MFA from Temple University Tyler School of Art. Jeong’s first solo exhibition in Korea presents his recent works including paintings and drawings. The artist focuses on different stereotypes, moral standards and principles of the cultures of Korea and United States. As an artist who aspires to establish meaningful and profound communication between individuals, he captures one’s thoughts and experiences of life’s sufferings, losses, misunderstandings and sins in a frank yet metaphorical way. In particular, the animal forms which frequently appear in his work remind the viewer of the unrefined state of human nature, while playing upon the cultural specificities which evoke different interpretations of the same subject. The tension throughout the application of various materials creates intense pictorial narratives in multilayered forms that cross over the boundaries of abstract and figurative.
Jeong currently lives and works in Seoul.
