Frieze Masters Names Emanuela Tarizzo as Director at ‘Pivotal Time’
By Elaine YJ Zheng – 26 March 2025, London

Frieze has appointed Emanuela Tarizzo as the new director of Frieze Masters, the London fair founded in 2012 for art from antiquity to the 20th century.

Replacing former director Nathan Clements-Gillespie, Tarizzo will bring to the role her extensive knowledge of the art market as an independent art advisor and former director at London gallery Tomasso alongside a wide network of dealers, collectors, museums, and academics.

Tarizzo said the fair has always stood out for its London roots with an international outlook and reputation as a centre for expertise, and for sharing ‘new perspectives on historical art’.

‘I am honoured to join Frieze Masters at such a pivotal time,’ she said.

The news comes at an uncertain time for the Frieze enterprise as its majority owners, Endeavor, contemplate a sale as part of a deal with investment group Silver Lake.

Meanwhile, Frieze executive director of fairs Kristell Chadé said Tarizzo’s market knowledge and curatorial rigour will strengthen the fair’s position as a bridge between past and present.

Chadé added that Tarizzo’s leadership will also help Frieze Masters in ‘deepening relationships with leading museums and collectors whose insight and ambition shape the field’.

As director, Tarizzo will oversee gallery participation and curatorial initiatives, ensuring Frieze Masters remains ‘an unmissable destination’ for collectors and institutions. She will work with Eva Langret, Frieze’s director, EMEA, and the Frieze Masters team.

Alongside Frieze London, Frieze Masters will return to Regent’s Park from 15 to 19 October. —[O]
