A longstanding presence in New York‘s Lower East Side art scene has rebranded and taken on a new partner as it makes plans to broaden its reach beyond the city.
Rachel Uffner Gallery is now Uffner & Liu, following the promotion of director Lucy Liu to partner.
Liu, aged 25, joined the gallery in 2023 as a sales assistant and was appointed director in September 2024. She is also a member of the Young Patrons Council at Shanghai‘s Rockbund Art Museum.
She joins Uffner in leading the 17-year-old gallery known for its discerning eye in identifying emerging and mid-career talent. An upcoming solo exhibition by Sheree Hovsepian opens on 3 May and runs through 21 June.
Looking ahead, Uffner & Liu will broaden its reach beyond New York, with plans to debut at Shanghai‘s West Bund Art and Design fair in November and increase representation of Asian American Pacific Islander artists in its programming. —[O]
