With a painting style that sits between the realms of abstraction and representation, the artist’s densely packed canvases featuring quotidian objects and miscellaneous materials are fetching record prices in the secondary market.
In 2019, High Flying Bird (2014)—with a pre-sale high estimate of $230,000—sold for just over $2M at Christie’s Hong Kong, marking an auction record for the artist. Auction success followed in 2020, as two further paintings passed the $1M mark.
The artist’s second solo exhibition with Blum & Poe, Pigeon Sweat, is now on view at their L.A. space.
