Peter Fischli & David Weiss‘s ‘Airport’ series is made up of photographs that the artist duo took while travelling between exhibitions.
Captured over a period of 25 years, beginning in 1987, the series originated at a time when photography was increasingly being recognised as an art form.
These new standards for photography were partly set the trailblazing Düsseldorf School of Photography, of which Fischli & Weiss were members.
Both born in Zurich, where Fischli continues to be based since Weiss’s death in 2012, the duo met in 1978 and began a collaborative practice that reimagined everyday objects and experiences through photography, sculpture, installation, and video.
Featuring snapshots from Zurich to Tokyo, a collection of the duo’s iconic ‘Airport’ series is on view at Galerie Eva Presenhuber in an exhibition titled Airports and Cars.
