Indonesia’s premier art fair, Art Jakarta brings together notable international galleries, artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts together with a clear focus on contemporary art practices from Southeast Asia.
First launched in 2009, Art Jakarta has steadily grown to build a reputation for providing a platform for smaller galleries and experimental art. The fair has also expanded in scale, moving to the 10,000-square-metre Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran (JIExpo) in 2023.
In addition to gallery booths, Art Jakarta hosts numerous programmes and events to foster conversation among artists, curators, academics, and collectors. These include the Art Jakarta Spot (AJ Spot), a series of installations created specifically for the fair; panel discussions; and AJX A, a collaborative initiative between Art Jakarta, institutions, and private companies to make their collections available to a wider audience.
