Press Release

1301SW, in collaboration with Emilia Parker, presents an exhibition by Iranian-American artist Hadieh Shafie — marking her second solo exhibition in Australia and the first presentation since her recent museum exhibition at Columbus Museum of Art, Georgia, US.

_“Each fold carries both mark and word – fragments of poems drawn into the surface, dissolving the boundary between language and form. The paper becomes a field where writing turns material and drawing becomes syntax. The arcs gather rhythmically, folding text upon text, gesture upon gesture, until meaning slips into movement.

In this space of immanence, language no longer describes; it becomes. Fold upon fold, words bend into texture, and thought takes on the contour of matter.”_
