YU GUO

In the New Year’s first exhibition project on April 18^th 2015, A Thousand Plateaus Art Space will simultaneously present solo exhibitions of three emerging artists. Except for Zhai Liang and Bi Rongrong, the young artist Yu Guo is going to present his solo exhibition: Jungle. Yu Guo depicts the obscure scenes with strong colours, to create an effect of alienation, so that his creation presents varied gradations and different sensation fields. Within his frame, narrative is always as vague as almost all contemporary paintings. However, Yu Guo has teased out a new clear structure, to push the viewers back to find the visual structure instead of to conjecture the concept. His works present a clear assessment to the essential nature of painting, that is, the relationship between painter and canvas: he considers canvas as a container that stores vast raw information, then he puts his unique feelings about the world inside; his laconic and changing visual representation is like the artistic password for these information.
