Press Release

Alzueta Gallery is pleased to present Ancestors of Tomorrow: Dialogues between Dogon Art and Contemporary Abstraction, an exhibition in collaboration with Montagut Gallery that brings together works by the artist Enrich.R alongside tribal art pieces from the Dogon culture of Mali. The exhibition will be on view at Alzueta Gallery Turó from April 22 to May 8, 2026.

There are connections that transcend time and geography, linking artistic practices and reminding us that art can speak to us beyond its immediate contexts. The proposal by Alzueta Gallery and Montagut Gallery establishes a dialogue between sculptures from the Dogon culture and works from Enrich.R’s Dorado series (Spain, 2001). Presented as a continuum, the exhibition traces a journey through the purity of forms and materials, where the polishing and gilding of surfaces emerge as reflections of a shared essence.

Deeply rooted in the spirituality and cosmogony of their people, Dogon sculptures reveal themselves as vessels of both individual and collective memory. In resonance, Enrich.R’s works intertwine maturity and memory, exploring space and time, matter and trace, and unveiling layers that surface as vestiges of accumulated experience.

In a raw yet poetic language, the exhibition captivates us through its ability to point towards the essential.
