Press Release

Luca Frei will present textile works depicting landscapes, living systems, and hybrid architectures in his fourth exhibition at Galerie Barbara Wien. These motifs are born from carefully redrawn sketches, allowing Frei to attain the compositional tension he seeks. Notably, he alters the conventional relationship between medium and tool. Rather than guiding a pencil across paper to draw, Frei guides the fabric through a sewing machine to create his stitched lines, providing a distinctive approach to his artistic process. The exhibition also includes a new sculpture by Luca Frei: a steel mobile composed of polygonal rings that serve as lenses, encouraging visitors to explore and observe the installation from a playful angle.
