Press Release

Flora, Andreas Diaz Andersson’s new exhibition, explores the intersection of nature, classification, and form, drawing from the work of Swedish biologist Carl von Linné. The show is on view at Cadogan Solo, Milan, until April 5th.

Carl von Linné (1707-1778) was a Swedish biologist, physician, and botanist who developed the modern system of naming and classifying living organisms. His work Systema Naturae introduced binomial nomenclature, the method still used today to name species with a two-part Latin name (e.g. Magnolia Virginiana). Linné’s system of organizing and naming plants was not just scientific: it was a way of seeing, a method of understanding the relationships between living things, becoming the foundation for modern taxonomy and influencing the way we perceive nature.

Through a minimalistic approach, botanical structures are translated into textile-based works that reflect both the precision and poetry of the natural world where each piece is a quiet meditation on structure, science, order, and intuition.
