Capsule Shanghai is pleased to present Spring Antidote at Blanc Art Space, Beijing from 26 March–14 May 2022. Two groups of works will rotate featuring Cai Zebin, Daniel Chen, Sarah Faux, Gao Yuan, Adrian Geller, Elizabeth Jaeger, Aki Kondo, Kong Lingnan, Maya Kramer, Liao Wen, Mevlana Lipp, Douglas Rieger, Curtis Talwst Santiago, Alessandro Teoldi, and Alice Wang.
Spring Antidote opens parallel worlds for viewers to wander during these exceptional times as a warmer spring brings new challenges for us all. Here is a remedy for viewers as each artwork is an encapsulated antidote that distills the artist’s own experience of combating difficulties and celebrating life. Though uncertainty and threats linger in and out of view, we promise a space where creativity remains a source of comfort and inspiration in our community.
This diverse group of works showcases the breadth of the gallery’s programme and artists’ unique working processes. In maintaining the intention of the gallery’s opening in late 2016 in Shanghai, Capsule continues to work with emerging artists pushing the boundaries of contemporary art and fostering trans-national and trans-regional links. By bringing this special exhibition to Beijing, we look forward to expanding the dialogue with the artists and connecting with old and new friends and colleagues.

Established in late 2016 by Italian gallerist and long-time influential figure of the Shanghai art scene Enrico Polato, Capsule Shanghai is a self-described ‘gallery and art laboratory’ based in Shanghai’s central Xuhui District. Situated on the first floor of a picturesque 1930s garden house in the idyllic greenery of the former French Concession, the gallery works primarily with emerging Chinese and international artists who push the boundaries of contemporary art. Its special focus has been on artists who have personally and professionally migrated between regions, creating unique trans-national and trans-regional links.
