Kahee Jeong 404, 2025 Single-channel video, sound, color 16 min. 30 sec.
Edition 3

In an era where technology promises total connectivity, 404 explores the profound solitude that emerges when human emotion is reduced to data.

The video follows a protagonist drifting in a state of perpetual inadequacy, seeking refuge in a digital comfort system that only deepens their estrangement.
Central to this journey is a fragile relationship with Godo, a virtual idol who serves as a digital sanctuary. Yet, this bond only underscores the protagonist’s structural loneliness, as their devotion is met with the silent, mechanical indifference of the system. Through six scenes titled after HTTP status codes, the work captures a soul fading into a “404 Not Found” state, a ghost in the machine where every request for connection meets failure.
This narrative of isolation is expanded in the accompanying novel, Waiting for Godo. Set in the Orion’s Arm Universe Project (OA), it traces the birth of the virtual idol Godo, who evolves from an infomorph into a Transapient intelligence. As Godo learns the intricacies of human emotion while navigating complex technocultural systems, the story bridges a cold, hyper-advanced future with a present longing, exploring the persistent search for
connection across the stars.
