His works enact a reframing of events manifested as anthropomorphized paintings that possess a near-fetishistic corporeality. Earlier paintings resembling traditional face shrouds (myeokmok) are stained and bound, treated as cursed vessels containing echoes of colonial violence. Finalized with a distinct style of mounting (pyogu), the works recall the structure of Korean ritual portraiture (yeongjeong), mirroring the arrangement of sacred objects such as ancestral tablets or jars.
