Press Release

Sabrina Amrani is pleased to present ARCHIVE, a group exhibition inaugurating Sabrina Amrani Projects, the gallery’s new exhibition space, during APERTURA Madrid Gallery Weekend 2026.

An archive is a sealed space of elements generated in the past, remaining valid in the present and projected into the future. A meeting place for intended processes where accident is embraced as the very nature of the preserved object. Through the work of Pablo Barreiro, Paloma De La Cruz, Alba Lorente, Cristina Mejías, and Claudia Pastomás, ARCHIVE brings together the work of five creators whose practices encompass a reflection on matter as a living example of the artistic process. Works in which matter preserves the memory of the actions that pass through it and remains in a constant state of transformation.

This intention to preserve the memory and knowledge of the artistic process presents us with an interest in the unambiguous display of the paths taken. The artistic medium is thus understood not as an exceptional element but as an elementary part of a language in permanent reformulation.

ARCHIVE is an exhibition that echoes the very space that hosts it and where, like the works presented, it preserves the memory of the processes that constituted it into what it is today. A living archive that, by eliminating the sealed nature of the concept itself, offers us the opportunity to understand art through the immediacy of the present moment rather than from the perspective of the past.

Curated by Álvaro Conde.
