Aaron Curry is known for his brightly coloured sculptures and collages. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2002 and later completed his Master of Fine Arts in 2005 at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena where he was taught by Mike Kelley and Jim Shaw. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
Curry’s sculptures are informed by figurative painting, graffiti, cubism, cartoons, and abstraction, and are made from found materials such as twine, cardboard, posters, beads, and wood. His fluorescent works, which the artist describes as paintings, are reminiscent of the modernist works of Alexander Calder and Henry Moore.
Aaron Curry’s work is held in many public collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the San Francisco Museum of Art; the Seattle Art Museum; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
