The artists Min Sung-hong, Ahn Sang-hoon, and Jung Jeong-ju are participating for the first time in “Frieze Seoul 2024”. The concept centers around “symptoms of amnesia,” exploring the works of these three artists, each employing different forms and languages through objects, paintings, and media. Instead of using the proper noun ‘amnesia,’ the concept opts for a listing of common nouns: ‘memory,’ ‘loss,’ and ‘symptoms.’ This approach does not isolate the expression to a single entity but universally applies common nouns, allowing the individual languages of the artists to intersect with each other’s worldviews. The term ‘symptoms’ commonly refers to a pathological condition and is often used in a negative context. However, symptoms serve as the only form that does not deceive our bodies, acting as signals and alarms that allow us to check our state and position.
