Press Release

PKM Gallery is pleased to present a curated selection of works by its represented artists, highlighting the diverse trajectories of contemporary art.

Anchoring the presentation are seminal works by the masters of Korean modern art — Yoo Youngkuk, Yun Hyong-keun, Chung Chang-Sup, and Suh Seung-Won — whose bold abstractions, celebrated globally, continue to captivate discerning collectors

Jungjin Lee, following her widely acclaimed solo exhibition in the UK this June that garnered significant coverage in The Guardian and the Financial Times, will unveil new works exclusively at Frieze Seoul 2025.

Bek Hyunjin recently gained international attention through his solo exhibition Seoul Syntax at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, Los Angeles, and the ongoing exhibition The Second Life at Atelier Hermès. In dialogue with these works, Bek will showcase a new series of paintings and drawings.

CHUNG, Hyun has been renowned for bridging figuration and abstraction with powerful visual energy. Having captured the spotlight with a bold solo booth at Art Basel Miami Beach last year, he will exhibit bronze head sculptures.

Olafur Eliasson, regarded as one of the foremost artists for merging art with perception of natural sciences and continuously expanding the boundaries of expression, will present a commanding wall-mounted sculpture from his iconic series, certain to anchor the booth as a centerpiece.

Currently on view at PKM Gallery with the solo exhibition Amateur Composer, Young In Hong continues to challenge hierarchies embedded in daily life, dismantling them through nonbinary thinking and multimedia practices. Her hand-embroidered textile works, merging conceptual depth with artisanal craftsmanship, have been widely lauded both in Korea and internationally. Hong will feature intricate embroidered paintings at the booth.

Following the success of his first solo exhibition at PKM Gallery, SAMBYPEN returns with a striking new body of work. Wonwoo Lee’s ‘Air Words series’, where text and color collide to subvert familiar meanings through humor and irony, will also be on view, alongside Young Do Jeong’s dynamic paintings—marked by explosive color and spontaneous brushwork—that channel raw physical energy and rhythmic intensity, blurring the boundaries between figuration and abstraction. Shin Min Joo will contribute large-scale works in deep greens and blues, where layered brushstrokes and washes evoke the tension between physical energy and natural atmosphere. The booth will also feature Koo Hyunmo’s refined ceramic wall sculpture and intricate drawing, as well as Kim Jiwon’s signature Mandrami painting.

Rounding out the presentation are works by Jorge Pardo, a leading voice in contemporary art who deconstructs and layers historical and personal imagery into abstraction, seamlessly traversing the boundaries of art, design, and architecture. Alongside these are works by Cody Choi, whose neon-tinged portraits explore the intersections of reality and virtuality, desire and identity, translating the psychological tensions of contemporary life into a vivid painterly language shaped by digital aesthetics.
