This exhibition took place at our previous Amsterdam location.
The Mini-Gathering series develops through different subjects and each time introduces a new reading during the exhibitions. Each of them is for Daniel Firman a possibility of offering an observation on our contemporary world through a sentence or even a word around these works. For this exhibition entitled "Re-enchantment" the artist questions our anxieties and concerns which are difficult to remedy.
This new Mini-Gathering series are like mini-scenarios for a slapstick comedy, where the situation seems disastrous and bogged down. The sculptures show unweakened bodies, standing and submerged by various objects and materials, in a sort of rot-proof, almost sticky intertwining. But Daniel Firman's sculptural work also opens up positive perspectives, forms of rebirth, new contingencies, as the title re-enchantment indicates. These works are ultimately beautiful to see and the materials which usually inflict so much distress on us suddenly become formal and aesthetic promises.
