BIRD HEAD

ShanghART Beijing is pleased to announce Bird Head solo exhibition Welcome to Bird Head World Again–Beijing 2012 on 1^st September 2012. It being the first solo exhibition of Bird Head in Beijing, more than 200 photos will be featured this time. It also marks the first full display of the set in China after the 54^th Venice Art Biennale ILLUMInations in 2011.

Founded in 2004 as a photographic collective, Bird Head and their artworks have been given wide attentions. By photographing which usually functions to record, the two members, SONG Tao and JI Weiyu, intend more to assist memorisation in a faithful manner. For some, they are perhaps simply colourful or B&W photos, while for the artists, it links together their entire world. Maybe ‘the world’ does not belong to you but they welcome your arrival.

JI Weiyu (1980) and SONG Tao (1979) were both born in Shanghai, where they also reside and work today. The artists graduated from the Shanghai Arts and Crafts School in 2000.
