Trybala centres her work on the complexity of human relationships, drawing inspiration from per- sonal experiences, conversations with friends and family, and art historical references. The politics of the feminine body in space is central to Trybala’s work. In her carefully composed paintings, closely cropped, ambiguous body parts are entangled as fleshy planes contort and push to the edge of the frame. Intimacy, tenderness and fragility are expressed through subtle gestures and expres- sions, rendered in luscious, velvety paint that flows across the canvas.
