Born in Buenos Aires in 1977, He studied film production at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, where he first came into contact with photography. He attended the photography workshop held by Jorge Saenz from 1999 to 2001 and has been studying at Eduardo Gil’s Photographic Aesthetics Workshop since 2005. In 2001 he received a grant from the Nuevo Periodismo Foundation to attend a workshop in Cartagena, Colombia and the following year took pictures for the World Bank portraying field workers in Honduras. In 2003, he was contracted by the Red Cross to produce a photographic reportage in the Amazon jungle in Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru. In 2006 he won the Avina Grant for Journalistic Investigation for his work “Antiguos Mambos” as well as an award from the Argentine National Arts Foundation to develop an audiovisual project on the basis of the works from his photography exhibition “Heridas”.
In 2007, Srur was awarded the Argentine Metropolitan Art and Science Foundation grant. The following year he produced an individual report on the Triple Frontier for the Spanish Cooperation Center in Argentina, the series “Ciudades del Este”. Since 2009 he has held teaching positions in major Argentinian institutions and his work was subject of solo and group exhibitions in South America. In 2013 Srur acquired the photographic archive of Harry Grant Olds, one of the most important photographers working in Latin America in the beginning of the 20th Century. His work is exclusively represented by Galerie Julian Sander since 2014.
