The noise music artist, C-Botsu, made their debut at √K Contemporary’s January 2011 Approaches to Painting - reprise exhibition.
His works, (which typically carry absurdist titles), simultaneously attract and dispel any clear associations. Rebellious in nature, his works are often drawn on unusual materials, such as pages from a household accounting notebook. Known for his collages, his works tend to mimic the abrasive, ambiguous, and scattered nature of noise through visual disambiguation. In many works, traces of the original material, such as the headers from a notebook (i.e. “income”, “food expenses”, and “total expenses”,) are hidden under superimposing lines and overarching forms.
