Born in 1940 in Genoa, Italy. Lives and works in Turin, Italy.
Giulio Paolini studied at the Institute for Graphic and Photographic Arts in Turin, Italy. Paolini has participated in a number of international exhibitions, including Documenta V (1972), VI (1977), VII (1982), and IX (1992), and the Venice Biennale (1970, 1986, 1997 and 2013). Paolini's various awards include a Premio Fontana (1975), a DAAD Fellowship (1981), and a Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (1995). He has exhibited in such institutions as the Kunstmuseum Winterthur, Switzerland (2005), the Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain, Geneva (1999), the Castello di Rivoli, Museo d’Arte Conteporanea, Turin, Italy (1991),the Guggenheim Museum, New York (1985), the Stedlijk Museum, Amsterdam (1980), and the Museum of Modern Art, New York (1974).
