OSCAR LOZANO

b. 1973, Mexico
Oscar Lozano Biography

Mexican artist with a background in painting, photography and architecture. His work takes as departure point the study of global context primarily focused on technology. His paintings, composed of geometric lines capture structures akin to the composition of DNA. The chromatic spectrums in his work, capture the environment around us. Seemingly digital, these works actually continue the conversation of abstraction that started in the work of artists such Sol Lewitt, or even the abstract expressionists, such as Barnett Newman. They also contain geometric structures in concrete, mathematical forms.

Oscar Lozano has exhibited at the IX Bienal Monterrey FEMSA, Centro Cultural Tijuana, México, in 2010, and at Pinta, The Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art Fair, in 2009 New York, USA. He has had a solo show in Museo Metropolitano de Monterrey, Monterrey, México in 2008 and recently in GE Galería in 2011.
