Tadashi Ito (伊藤 正 1952-) is a potter who currently works in Iwate prefecture.⠀After earning his geology degree, he eventually returned to his hometown in Iwate and began creating works using the soil he digs out with his own hands.⠀⠀
Simple and archaic, this work renders a powerful sense of nostalgia. Reminiscent of weathered shells on beaches, it carries a sense of timelessness, leaving a sharp impression on the viewer. ⠀
Yielding works from the soil of his birthplace, Ito’s organic way of production evidences his great affinity for nature.
Melancholic yet innovative, his work possesses a harmonious polarity that grants a world of its own.
