Art Basel Paris has announced fashion brand Miu Miu as its Public Program Official Partner for this year’s fair.

Miu Miu was founded in 1993 by billionaire Miuccia Prada, who took over her family’s luxury fashion business, Prada, in 1978. Women feature prominently in the label’s project for Art Basel Paris, which will take place at the Palais d’Iéna.

Conceived by Polish artist Goshka Macuga, ‘Tales & Tellers’ will draw from Miu Miu’s bi-annual film commission, ‘Women’s Tales’, in which filmmakers such as Mati Diop, Miranda July, and Agnès Varda have explored ‘vanity and womanhood’. It will also feature footage of artistic interventions at Miu Miu runway shows, including time-based media works by Sophia Al-Maria, Cécile B. Evans, and Geumhyung Jeong.

Clément Delépine, Director of Art Basel Paris, said the partnership, ‘marks an important milestone in the show’s history, illustrating the role of Art Basel Paris as an organisation that creates bridges and fosters fruitful exchanges between creative industries.’

The third edition of the fair, formerly known as Paris+ par Art Basel, will present 195 galleries at the Grand Palais from 18–20 October, with VIP days on 16 and 17 October.

Five new satellite venues have been added to the event, including the Domaine national du Palais-Royal and the Petit Palais.

Nine galleries will present works made before 1900 in the fair’s new Premise sector, while 31 booths will show works exploring themes such as love, eroticism, Surrealism, and Queer identity in the new Oh La La! initiative from 18 to 19 October.

The Art Basel Shop, curated by Sarah Andelman, will return with a selection of lifestyle products including items in the style of artist collective Claire Fontaine. —[O]
