India Rose James to Host Women-Led Galleries in New Fair During Frieze London
The Soho heiress and gallerist will draw in the ‘next generation’ of collectors and creatives during Frieze London with a boutique fair that offers an alternative to the ‘scale and saturation of the larger fair circuit’. Save to My Ocula
Soho Estates heiress and gallery owner India Rose James will stage a ‘cultural intervention’ during London’s Frieze Week this October in the form of a boutique fair for women-led galleries to ‘[celebrate] the influence of women in contemporary art’.
Held across two storeys of Georgian townhouse Artist’s House in central Soho, Echo Soho will feature young local galleries like Pipeline and Gillian Jason Gallery, who only represent women, platforms like Wondering People, and an exhibition curated by Association of Women in the Arts with participants selected through open call from 16 to 19 October 2025.
The boutique fair aims to attract the ‘next generation’ of collectors and creatives with its smaller size ‘tailored to the needs of today’s emerging galleries’.
Conceived with ‘accessibility in mind’, Echo Soho will boast ‘affordable booth rates’, on-site art handling, photography services, public relations support, and VIP list sharing.
The initiative builds on the 34-year-old gallerist’s experience running Soho Revue on Greek Street, which was launched in 2015 with the aim of backing early career artists and exclusively representing women, including Joana Galego, Lorena Lohr, and Nooka Shepherd.
Echo Soho’s programme will include live performances, print-making workshops, gallery awards, and a preview hosted by Contemporary Art Society on 17 October. —[O]
