The young Chinese painter and Royal College of Art graduate Li Hei Di has joined Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in London.
Li Hei Di’s effervescent paintings are portraits of her own sexual identity and explorations of desire, where repressed, animalistic feelings are translated into abstract, ephemeral scenes.
The announcement follows a busy run for the London-based artist, who recently held her first solo exhibition Tits at Dawn (11 November–18 December 2022) at LINSEED Projects in Shanghai, and exhibited in the group show Conscious Unconscious (12 January–4 February 2023) at Pippy Houldsworth.
Forthcoming projects include a group exhibition Uncanny Valley (31 January–4 March 2023) at Gagosian, Hong Kong; a U.S. solo debut with Kohn Gallery, Los Angeles; and her first solo show with Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, scheduled for 2024.
