Li Hei Di Biography

Li Hei Di's effervescent paintings are abstract portraits of longing, desire and seduction. Repressed, animalistic feelings are translated into ephemeral scenes.

Her paintings present an entrancing interplay between recognisable forms, such as limbs and torsos, and abstract shapes. Her luminous coloured canvases shift between figurative and abstract, opaque and transparent. This ambiguity is core to her artistic approach.

Born in Shenyang, China, in 1997, the artist attended Maryland Institute College of Art followed by Chelsea College of Art, and has a MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London.
