What do we plan for? What can we plan for? What if the plan is all we have?

1301PE is pleased to announce the opening of Drafting Space an exhibition of works on paper by Fiona Connor, Morgan Fisher, Jessica Stockholder, and Diana Thater.

For Drafting Space the artists consider first drafts, technical drawing, preparatory sketches, blueprints for things yet to be realized and their modes of production. Throughout the past year of being in an uneasy limbo, of waiting of planning, the prospect of making plans has become fraught. We’ve had to ask ourselves: What do we plan for? What can we plan for? What if the plan is all we have?

The quality of this type of drawing is often intricate yet loose, and full of movement with a relationship to material objects but also existing in a somewhat playful imaginary space, a future space the potential enacted on the page.

Founded by Brian Butler in 1992, 1301PE is a contemporary art gallery exhibiting significant Los Angeles based artists as well as internationally established and acclaimed artists. The gallery is known for its exhibition of significant work across mediums. Founded on the principle of promoting Los Angeles artists worldwide, the gallery has been located at its current location in Miracle Mile, Los Angeles since 1998.
