Press Release

A2Z Art Gallery is proud and happy to present The Hermit, the exo or esotericism, the first solo exhibition of the French artist Adeline Calosci in Paris, who have participated in the exhibition, Urban Art: A Blend at the Jupiter Art Museum in Shenzhen, China, earlier this year.

Following her exhibition Consume me, presented in Hong Kong in 2018 explores the links between consumption and desire. In this exhibition, Adeline CALOSCI will open the door to the fairytale and astral world.

Symbol of prudence that represents the time needed to be understood, obtain what we are looking for and guide our way to our inner light, the spirit of ‘Hermit’ (the ninth card of the Marseilles tarot) is staged in altars in connection with beings of nature through the almost childish character, which represented the visual codes of neo-pop icons.

Metaphors of harmony and benevolence reference from the world of fairy tales, seven fairy deities represented sacred objects, like a talisman. Each figure attracts us unconsciously by its eyes, endowed with a powerful evocative force. Each one secures us with its protective aura and connects to a particular day of the week in connection with a specific plant, whose benefits are associated with a sidereal world, itself connected to the human soul.

‘A work of art is good when it is able to provoke vibrations of the soul, since art is the language of the soul and the only one’. (Wassily KANDINSKY, Of the Spiritual in Art, 1912)

The paint is diluted in water in her painting mostly, itself transformed following a hermetic ritual. Appealing to our imagination and sensitivity, the artist helps us to reconcile ourselves to the magnetic and ancestral energy that follows with the divine cycles of nature, to respect and appreciate them.

In a society where our person is guided by the mantra ‘what I possess is what I am’, L’Ermite, l’exo ou l’ésotérisme questions the multiple definitions of our existence and our spiritualities. In search of harmony, inner peace and happiness, each of us are invited to open our inner eye to respecting nature, develop our capacity to understand in-depth and enlighten our past or hidden history. A mystical and meditative journey transcending our reality in return to the essence of all things.
