Alice Roux, decorator and designer, passionate about shapes and colours. She conveys to us with passion her relationship to art, her fascination for decor and different perspectives. For the first time in Spain, the artist shows her work in her Solo Presentation at the Alzueta Gallery space in Turó Park.
Alice Roux (1987) is a French artist and designer based in Brussels.
She's always been fascinated for decorative arts, architecture, light and color, which led her to study at the famous Parisian school ESAG Penninghen, from which she graduated in 2011.One of the references that accompanies Alice in her work is the artist Sonia Delaunay. A pioneer who understood the importance of bringing art into everyday life by duplicating its forms and works through textiles, objects, furniture and prints. A moving encounter that has undoubtedly nourished and directed her creation and her vision towards the visual arts. After many projects, and with her experiences in the monumental creation of painted sets in New York, in scenography for the Festival d'Avignon, within the artist duo she founded with Mattia Listowski in 2011 or as artistic director and creator of prints for the famous fashion house CACHAREL, Alice decided in 2018 to create her first line of furniture. Like a clothing lining, Alice plays with the object that becomes reversible, she "unhooks" the paintings from the walls to make them live directly on the furniture and in the space. In a craft way, Alice develops her own know-how. She explores materials, new textures and draws each object on which she paints by hand her architectural, organic, colored or monochrome compositions. Each piece is unique. In this practice which evolves and asserts itself according to the projects, Alice becomes familiar with a painter's practice. Her large free forms in paint or colored linen are born spontaneously in front of her support or on her sketchbook in the case of the large hangings sewn and assembled by hand. The compositions, the colors and the whole harmony of the work are played on the gesture of the moment, on the body and the state of mind.
