Alzueta Gallery is pleased to present “The Leftovers” the first Solo Exhibition of the Danish artist in Barcelona. The show is, as the artist himself states, “a celebration of the odd ones” paying homage to those who decided to challenge the rules.
In a world that often emphasizes conformity and adhering to societal norms, there are individuals who don’t fit neatly into the standard and who are often overlooked by others. However, hidden beneath them lies a wealth of extraordinary qualities and untapped potential.
They may not be the fastest runner or the first one to be picked for the team, but they possess resilience, determination, and an unwavering belief in themselves. They have learned to embrace their differences and turn them into strengths, often excelling in areas that go unnoticed by the mainstream.Paradoxically, the world always needed these people, those who, at some point, decided to break the rules and question the establishment imposed by others.
Sune sees himself as those defiers and proof of that is this exhibition where he unfolds an intimate and nostalgic journey letting us peer at his world and his unconventional path as an artist. With a unique approach to figurative abstraction, he brings together the emergence of digital tools in our lives with constant regard to Art History and the pictorial tradition. A merge that brought him to achieve a sort of freedom to explore different visual perspectives and allure the onlooker into his cryptic yet playful imagery deprived of any specific interpretation.
Born in Denmark, Sune Christiansen completed his MA in graphic design and animation from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts – Architecture, Design, Conservation. Before taking up painting in 2019 he has been working as an art director and animator at The Danish National Broadcasting Company from 2007. Along side this work he has directed several animation shorts.
