ARARIO GALLERY is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Korean artist Aokizy, titled Ranpo at its Shanghai space on 11 November 2025. The exhibition brings together the artist’s recent paintings and sculptures, using his highly distinctive visual language to stage a profound visual meditation on the hybridity of East Asian culture and questions of identity in the context of an image-saturated digital era.
The exhibition title, Ranpo, is a reference to the Japanese mystery novelist Edogawa Ranpo; at the same time, its literal meaning—‘chaotic steps’—aptly captures the common psychological state of contemporary individuals navigating a labyrinth of images. The exhibition’s presentation in Shanghai—a modern city shaped by centuries of cultural exchange—subtly resonates with the complex identity structures of modern Korea and its layered cultural formations.
