Chulayarnnon Siriphol expands on his two decades of short films and video art in a new 24-part video work that melds digitised VHS, Mini-DV footage, and Thai film archive material. Presented within a terrain of hoarded objects amassed over decades in the artist’s house, the work transforms these personal remnants into an archaeological site, where material memory collides with digital reconfiguration.
Envisioning digital transformation as a new frontier for resistance, I a Pixel, We the People frames the pixel—both insignificant and powerful—as a metaphor for the masses’ potential to challenge oppressive structures. Drawing parallels between archives, bunkers, and speculative sci-fi, Siriphol critiques authoritarianism, the circumstances of cultural labour, and the role of contemporary art in shaping political agency. The durational format resists linear consumption, reinforcing an urgent interrogation of time, memory, and collective power in an era of digital saturation.
