Press Release

Galatea Salvador is pleased to present, starting November 13th, 2025, two simultaneous solo exhibitions: Poli Pieratti: a invenção da maré [The Invention of the Tide], the first solo exhibition by artist Poli Pieratti in the Bahian capital, and Estel Sokol: Chuva de prata [Silver Rain], an unprecedented installation by Estela Sokol developed for the gallery’s vault space. Though distinct in approach, both exhibitions converge in a sensitive exploration of space, perception, materiality, and sensoriality.

Poli Pieratti (Brasília, 1987) presents in the gallery’s main hall a series of eleven new works anchored in the myth of the nymph Galatea, one of the Nereids of Greek mythology, to evoke the sea and feminine strength. In Poli Pieratti: a invenção da maré [The Invention of the Tide], that has a critical text by writer and curator Veronica Stigger, the artist’s iridescent paintings occupy a liminal zone between abstraction and figuration, alluding to rocks, waves, cliffs, corals, and the very image of Galatea herself.

Estela Sokol (São Paulo, 1979), in turn, presents Estela Sokol: Chuva de prata [Silver Rain], an installation held inside the vault of Galatea Salvador made up of 300 photoluminescent modules that absorb artificial light at night and radiate luminosity during the day in the darkness of the exhibition space. With a text by Alana Silveira, director of Galatea Salvador, the exhibit offers an immersive and sensorial experience in which light, time, and the viewer’s presence become activating elements of perception.

The exhibitions inaugurate a new phase in Galatea’s activities in Salvador, with the simultaneous presentation of two distinct shows across the gallery’s spaces — the main hall and the vault. This expansion opens paths for new possibilities of curatorial dialogue, spatial activation, and audience engagement.
