b. 1986The works of Vienna-based painter Alicia Viebrock are painterly events. The artist applies rich colors to the canvas with powerful brushstrokes in a gestural, expressive manner. Calligraphic, graphic echoes in her otherwise purely abstract art testify to the fine balance between planned composition and intuitive, painterly freedom. In addition to acrylic and ink, the painting ground repeatedly comes to the fore in untreated form, in blue or purple tones, creating an exciting counterpoint to the dynamic painting.
