GROUP EXHIBITION

On a four-harness loom, Ethan Cook weaves his fabrics from pre-dyed cotton, which he then sews together to create color field-like abstractions. The compositions evoke a different perception in the close-up and distant view due to the special haptics of the works. In his art, Cook deals intensively with the expectations and possibilities of painting.The painter Tony Huynh works in small formats and creates memorable images of experiences of a familiar world. The work »Holding On«, 2025 looks like a snapshot in which movement and stillness are equally present. While the impasto brushstroke undulates across the painting ground in a delicate, muted color palette, the bird’s wings remain slightly splayed from its body.

A solo exhibition of works by Cologne artist Natascha Schmitten is planned for the beginning of September. We can already show a preview in the Group Show: The 130 x 100 cm work »Milkyways V«, 2025 is covered with nylon, but the transparent fabric has several seam connections in addition to translucent and opaque surfaces, which bring another exciting aspect to her multi-layered painting.

Winston Roeth is represented with the work »Signal«, 2025, a square panel covered in dark nuances of blue tones, over which two intersecting, luminous lines run. We will also show works by the American painter in a solo exhibition at the gallery at the beginning of September and, together with the Fox Jensen Gallery, Sidney/Auckland, in a solo presentation at The Armory Show in New York. A comprehensive catalog is currently in progress and will be published this fall.

A work from Daniel Lergon’s new series of works is on view. While the artist used to paint on retroreflective fabric, he has been experimenting intensively with a retroreflective pigment over the past few months. In combination with paint, he has created expressive, color-intensive paintings with partially reflective surfaces.

A large-format wall piece by Rana Begum projects from the basement into the upper room. The 305 cm high, multi-part work »No. 615 L Triangles«, 2015 is composed of isosceles triangles made of untreated steel and red paint on aluminum. The contrasting materials and the different orientation of the triangles give the work a captivating presence.The sculptor Lutz Fritsch is fascinated by the line. The reduction to the essentials in dealing with line, surface, color and space characterizes his work and also his new edition on show: »Kunststück«, 2025. Lines in red, orange and grey, aligned vertically and horizontally, come together in a wonderfully balanced composition.
