KOSAKU KANECHIKA is pleased to present 5 ARTISTS, a group exhibition featuring works by Junko Oki, Ataru Sato, Chikashi Suzuki, Arisa Kumagai, and Ruby Neri, on view from 23 October to 4 December 2021.
Presented in this exhibition will be three of Junko Oki's embroidered works including her latest textile creation, along with Ataru Sato's figurative paintings and photographs by Chiakshi Suzuki, presented at the gallery for the first time.
Also included in the show are the works of Arisa Kumagai and Ruby Neri. Kumagai's photorealistic paintings, presented with the support of Gallery Koyanagi, depict the existence of personhood riddled with contradictions and has been highly praised by audiences and critics alike. Los Angeles based Ruby Neri creates ceramic vessels of distorted female forms that embody the various faces of womanhood, ranging from pleasure to terror and everything within the spectrum of human experience. The exhibition will put on display for the first time a ceramic work from 2016 along with a work on paper.
Founded in March 2017 by director, Kosaku Kanechika, KOSAKU KANECHIKA is a contemporary art gallery in Tokyo, Japan, that belongs to a new generation of venues re-defining the local contemporary art landscape.
