
P21 is pleased to present Minjeong An and Jean-Pierre Villafañe for Office , the 2026 edition of Basel Social Club.
Minjeong An transforms personal memories, emotions, and bodily sensations into precise, diagrammatic compositions modeled after anatomical and scientific systems. Jean-Pierre Villafañe, trained as an architect, constructs theatrical paintings in which social roles , desire, performance, and architectural space become unstable and intertwined.
Minjeong An (b.1981, Seoul) received her BFA and MFA from Seoul National University of Science and Technology. Her work has been presented in numerous group exhibitions and biennials, including Séance: Technology of the Spirit, the 13th Seoul Mediacity Biennale, Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul (2025); 417: Body Constructs, The Museum of Modern Art, New York (2025); EXOSKELETON, P21, Seoul (2024); Cosmos Cinema, the 14th Shanghai Biennale, Power Station of Art, Shanghai (2023); and 3 to 80, SeMA Storage, Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul (2021). Her work is also included in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art, New York and KADIST collection.
Jean-Pierre Villafañe (b. 1992, Puerto Rico) earned his Master’s in Architecture from Columbia University in New York in 2019, His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Embajada, Puerto Rico (2025); Charles Moffett, New York (2024) and Diablo Rosso, Panama City (2023) to name a few.
His work extends beyond the gallery wall, he was recently selected to create a mural commission for the Brooklyn Academy of Music (forthcoming).
P21 was established in 2017 by Soo Choi. Located in Itaewon district, a cultural hub in Seoul, the gallery opened with an inaugural exhibition by Choi Jeong Hwa and continues to promote compelling and original examples of international contemporary art. P21 is known for its unique exhibition space with two separate facades, respectively named P1 and P2, that enable artists to create site-specific works.
