de-finition/method: 
small canvasses, rectangular round oval square, painted the same colour as the wall on which they hang.

these canvasses are distributed in such a way as to draw a frame around a large absent canvas. this frame is incomplete, it has gaps, like so many openings to the painting, which itself expands beyond the rectangle on display. refer to artworks that have tried to discuss the function of the frame and of closing off the painting.
we think of seurat and his painted frames, of robert delaunay and his 1912 window… the sizes, shapes and layout of the canvasses around the absent canvas are variable from one activation to the next for the same canvas. these small canvasses are outside the frame, painted the same colour as the wall, they reveal the negative of the surface that was previously inside the frame
