Claude Rutault de-finition/method 425 : "double copies", 1991 Paint on canvas / Variable dimensions according to the actualisation

de-finition/method:
"the artist proposes a design for hanging canvasses painted the same colour as the wall on which they hang, in a space chosen by the charge taker.

the fairly complicated starting design uses canvasses in unprecedented shapes. a precise description is drawn up, including all the information from this first activation, including a sample of the wall colour, as well as the size of the wall. one element is missing, the sizes of the canvasses.
the charge taker makes a copy that is as exact as possible. several pieces of information are faithfully reproduced, leading to a price reduction for the artwork:

the same number of canvasses as in the initial activation - five percent;
the same number of canvasses, the same sizes as in the initial activation - five percent;
canvasses painted the same colour as in the initial activation - five percent;
the same hanging - five percent, reconstruction of an identical wall - thirty percent;
when the copy is finished, furniture is installed that is identical to that in the room in which the first activation took place - ten percent;
the reductions are cumulative - maximum sixty percent off"
