The Page Gallery is delighted to present a group exhibition, Growing, featuring three Korean contemporary artists, Park Suk Won (b.1942), Choi In Su (b.1946), and Yoon Sang Yuel (b.1970), in Gallery 3 at Frieze No. 9 Cork Street, London, from 4 to 20 April 2024. The Page Gallery has an ambition to share and expand its essence and knowledge of Korean Contemporary art internationally. The presentation highlights the 3 leading Korean contemporary artists who probe the idea of form and content through studies on mediums. This leads to a discovery of a connection between the mediums and East Asian philosophy. Known for his abstract sculpture, Park Suk Won this time focuses on the two-dimensional series 'Accumulation' (2019–2023). It is a delight to see both sculpture series, 'Becoming a Place' (2021) as well as drawing series, 'Seed Grows Slow and Fast' (2018–2022) by Choi Insu. Juxtaposed to Yoon Sang Yuel's Silence series, this group of artists is the reflection of how the approach to materials can dictate forms and contents. Park Suk Won, the pioneer of the Korean abstract sculpture movement, deliberately shares a philosophy that embodies the intrinsic and pure properties of materials. Choi Insu's sculptures and drawing series encapsulate the energy from nature. Yoon Sang Yuel's Silence series encourages viewers to experience the illusion created between the perception of an object and human's limit.
