Press Release

At Whitestone Ginza Gallery, we proudly showcase a curated ensemble of seminal works by key figures of the pioneering GUTAI Art Association —an avant-garde movement that redefined postwar Japanese art.

Situated in the heart of Tokyo’s Ginza district, Whitestone Gallery dedicates its first and second floors to a rotating selection of works from the pioneering GUTAI Art Association—one of the most influential avant-garde movements in postwar Japan.

The first floor highlights powerful large-scale works that reflect the movement’s radical engagement with material and action. On the second floor, a more intimate presentation of smaller works provide more insight into GUTAI’s diverse range and evolution. Anchored by rare pieces from founding members, the selection also includes artists closely aligned with the group’s legacy.

In addition to these core holdings, the gallery periodically features lesser-seen and significant works from its collection selected for their historical relevance or unique position within the movement. With works rotating regularly, each visit offers returning visitors new encounters and perspectives. We welcome you to explore the evolving world of GUTAI at our flagship space in Ginza, Tokyo.
