Whitestone Gallery is delighted to present Fairy Whisper, a dialogue exhibition of wood sculptures by Taiwanese artist Huang Pin Tong and ceramic sculptures by Japanese artist Miyako Terakura.
Despite coming from diverse origins, the two female artists both employ a variety of mediums, colours, and patterns to create a visual vocabulary with children's rounded characteristics. Wood and clay are given new life through the sculpture art form, which reflects the warmth and healing force. More than 20 pieces produced between 2021 and 2022 are shown for the first time by this duo exhibition at Whitestone Gallery Taipei. While it is true that the creative processes for woodcarving and ceramics are very different, like subtraction and addition, in the process of repeatedly eliminating and stacking, the reinterpretation of the same characteristics opens a dialogue through the exhibition. Being there was like witnessing two little children who were meeting for the first time, shyly exploring their similarities and differences with one another.
Established in 1967, Whitestone Gallery is a leading Japanese gallery presenting a broad spectrum of Japanese art from the post-war to contemporary in spaces across East Asia.
