Agustín Esteso (Valencia, Spain, 1984) is a contemporary sculptor whose work transforms the ancestral language of hand-forged iron into a distinctly contemporary sculptural practice. Drawing on the craft tradition inherited from generations of blacksmiths in his family, he manipulates metal with an unexpected sense of lightness, folding, cutting, and shaping it as though it were paper.
After studying Graphic Design and Advertising Creativity, Esteso dedicated his practice to contemporary sculpture. His work balances abstraction and figuration through simplified silhouettes, playful gestures, and elemental forms, creating a visual language that is both intuitive and rigorously composed. Rooted in craftsmanship yet informed by design, illustration, and graphic thinking, his sculptures explore the expressive potential of line, volume, and empty space, allowing both the material and the making process to remain visibly present.
His work has been presented in solo exhibitions throughout Spain and at leading contemporary art fairs including UVNT, SWAB, ESTAMPA, and CAN Art Fair Madrid. He has also participated in exhibitions in Belgium and the United Kingdom, expanding the international visibility of his practice.
Throughout his career, Esteso has received several recognitions, including the EMe Collection Acquisition Prize at MARTE Art Fair and the Drawing Club Award by Lazy Oaf in London. Alongside his gallery practice, he has developed public commissions such as Big Peanut in Madrid, a monumental sculpture that reflects his ongoing dialogue between contemporary sculpture and traditional craftsmanship.
